Life and a pleasant surprise

Journal Entry: Sat Oct 10, 2009, 5:02 PM
Life:

Been meaning to update this journal for a while now, but I've kept me from it in fear of it turning into a sappy emo post. In other words, I have been pretty far down lately, and still am. Work is really draining me, and there have been days when I've been so exhausted that I've shook like a leaf. Long story short: too much to do, and too few to do it. And thus my life is now reduced to work-sleep-work-sleep pattern from Monday till Friday. Saturday I'm fine and can do things I want to; like updating my dA. Sunday is spent dreading the coming week.

Happy World Mental Health Day people! >.<

Gawd, I can't wait till I leave that job and go back to uni! But first I have to drag myself through this year, and possibly the next one aswell...

Woohoo:

Had something happen recently that really made my week! I opened my inbox and found this:

A dedication to me made by :iconmidnight-dark-angel:, and I love it! :dance: She based it one this picture:

It's the first time people have honoured me with anything like this, so it made me really happy! Thank you so much again ~Midnight-Dark-Angel! And you people reading this; be sure to have a look at her gallery! :)

Future Cosplays:

Due to my future being a bit (very!) uncertain I don't know which cons and events I'll be able to attend. So that part will be updated as time goes.

Guild Waaaaars!!! >=D

Mon Sep 28, 2009, 9:16 AM
Sitting at a cafe in Tromsø, waiting for my friend who going to join me for some hours of Guild Wars. Why be geeky in private when we can be geeky in public?? :D

Got a new laptop last week, so I can finally play computer games again. My old PC was like Frankenstein's monster; something my oldest brother had put together from 3 other non-functional PCs. Needless to say it couldn't do much. Running two programs at the same time was hard for the poor, old thing. If changing from one window to another it could spend up to 15 minutes before the new window opened. It's not easy being senile and forget what it was in the middle of doing.. :/ But dear old Frankie Monster is now retired, and will probably only be used for playing music and such in the future. I promise to give it a good and respectul retirement, and let it have a happy time for the remaining part of it's life ^__^

Anyway, new laptop means new possibilities. Photo editing will now be a lot quicker, so expect more to be posted here soonish. Just need to catch up on my gaming first :P Speaking of which, anyone going to start playing Aion? I'm wondering wether or not to get the game. It's looks great, what keeps me from running to the store is the monthly fees. And I'm trying to save money for moving next year, and possibly going back to uni... Gah! I hate thinking of money! >.< But.. knowing me, I'll probably end up buying it.. Sooo, anyone playing it? :XD:

Also, winter's here. Argh! I'm so not ready for it! >.< We haven't got snow in the city yet, but the mountain sides are white, and the weather forecast promises snow tomorrow.. I need to move south...

Well, my friend is here. Off to Guild Wars! :D

Premium membership and..... stuff.

Sun Aug 23, 2009, 1:28 PM
Well, I've got a premium membership now, so I've got no choice but to mess about with stuff now =P New journal skin beeing one of those things. So yeah, this is basically just a journal to mess about and get used to that.

Life
Life... Blergh... Not happy with it to say the least! I've come to realize that I don't like my current job. It's sooo stressful, and I don't feel that it gives me much in return. Apart from aching shoulders and lots of colds. So yeah, I'm STRONGLY considering going back to uni next year. But I'm not sure yet what to study. Atm I'm thinking of photography, but I need to think some more about that.
Another thing is that I'm getting tired of living in Tromsø. It's a great little city, and I do love it here. But I feel like getting away for a bit and try new things. That and there's few my age (that I know of) who cosplay. My cosplay friends live down south or in the UK. So I really want to live somewhere that will give me the chance to see everyone more often.
As a result of the above I need to save up money, in case I'm moving and going back to studying next summer. So that means I won't be able to attend Fuyucon or Expo in October. Nor the Grand International Cosplay Ball or anything else happening in the UK. :( I am hoping though that I'll be able to attend Desucon in Oslo instead. There's a sale on plane tickets atm, and my friend can get a discount on hotel rooms. SO here's hoping! ^__^

:::Summer time! - as if!:::
Woot! My favourite time of the year is upon us! *dances* Although I haven't noticed much of it yet.. The weather has been quite nice, but there hasn't been any need to worry about getting a heat-stroke yet... The temperatures has been low. There's a rock festival going on in Tromsø atm, according to the news they had a cold 8 degrees C there last night. A bit further north it was snowing! XD So I'm not happy reading about all the heat records being set further south! >.< But oh well, I'll be going south tomorrow. I'll have to spend tomorrow night sleeping at the airport in Oslo, and then I'll be on my way to Glasgow early Monday morning. Can't wait! :D Atm I'm at my parents' place. I got here last night, so I basically just got here in time to repack my bag and then I'll be off again. But I'm coming back here after having visited *MysteriousFayth. I really wish I had someone with a camera here, aswell as my Steampunk outfit (which is in Scotland still)! My dad's tool/storage shed would be perfect for a shoot of my Aurora Ebeltoft character. Dad has got a lot of old tools and the shed itself looks really fitting for a messy inventor's workplace! XD *MysteriousFayth get up here! Now! =P

:::New Steampunk character:::
Speaking of Steampunk. Some Norwegian steampunkers wanted to make a crew, and seeing as I practically never get to see my Flight of the Valkyrie friends, I decided to join them. Which means another character is in the making! She'll be completely different from Aurora, so I'm really excited about getting to know a new steampunk profession. This time my character is a medium/ghost hunter type. Character sketches will be up shortly ^__^ I actually came up with two characters when I started to plan my new character. But seeing as I only need one new atm, the other one will have to wait. Problem is that I have so many ideas for her aswell, so I'll probably end up making her at some point. Just need an excuse to do it XD

:::Ice Age 3:::
I went to see Ice Age 3 this Wednesday. It was brilliant! Though I wish you all could get to hear the norwegian voices. The norwegian voice actors are so much better suited to the characters than the english ones. And this is coming from someone who usually prefer the english voices a lot better than the norwegian ones! ^__^ I want to see it again now! Too bad there are so many other movies in the cinema atm that I want to see, and that I'm kinda broke.... :XD: Sid FTW! :love:

Good week was good! + tag

(That's also the title of a great movie. Go watch it! =P)

Can a week get any better? :D For a start last Monday was a national holiday, so I had the day off of work. Which is a great beginning on a week in itself :XD: Then I got to know I'll be able to go to Scotland for a couple of weeks this summer after all. I'm too broke to pay the tickets myself because I won't get paid in July, so I didn't think I'd get to see *MysteriousFayth untill October or so. But no, his parents are paying the tickets! o.O Sure, we have to pay them back later, but yey! :D

The day after I got a new sofa (knowing I had to get this is also part of the reason why I couldn't afford Scotland tickets). My brother came by and had to get the chairs I had borrowed back, beause he has just moved into a new flat. Resulting in me having to sit on the floor for a day. Japanese style FTW! :XD: My new sofa is soooo comfy! And my living room looks a lot better with it! Can't wait till I can afford getting the other furniture I've got planned for this room. It still looks a bit empty... Though that means lots of space to work on cosplays! =P

Anyway, I still had more good news waiting for me! Wednesday I got a letter saying I got the job I had applied for! :D It's in the same nursery as I work now, but my current position only lasts out July (I'm a stand-in for someone on a sick leave), so that meant I would be without a job come August. But not anymore! :D I'm so happy! I won't have to worry about saving up for my rents and such anymore *relieved*.

Aaaand Thursday my Mum phoned and said she and Dad will be visiting next weekend. Which is great, as I haven't seen them since the beginning of February ^_^

Now roll on new week! :XD:

:bulletgreen::bulletgreen:Cosplays:bulletgreen::bulletgreen:
The past week I've been posting some pics of my Rider and Saria cosplays. I've still to post any pics of my Rip van Winkle cosplay, so that is still to come. And I've got a few left to post from my Saria winter shoot.. I'm just being sloooow ^^; Also I'm waiting for the pics from the Shikatema shoot.

I've also made a start on two of my next cosplays. Meladru is still in the planning and research phase, but Astaroshe Asran have her patterns now. So now I'm ready to start cutting the fabrics and start sewing ^_^

:bulletgreen::bulletgreen:Tag!:bulletgreen::bulletgreen:

Months ago (February I think) I was tagged by *Adamoluna to do the 8 Truths quiz. And I was tagged by someone (can't remember who, sorry ^^;) to do the 100 Thruths. I've finally done it now, but seeing as I was tagged in two different quizzes, I went for the middleish option and did 50 Truths :XD: Not that I think anyone will be bothered reading all of them =P I won't tag anyone, as most of you have done this already.

:bulletgreen:1. I’m a Procrastinator (yes, capital P ) >.< I never get things done until a few minutes before deadline. *sigh*
:bulletgreen:2. I love mermaids! And I’m going to make a mermaid costume at some point and have an underwater photo shoot. *dreams*
:bulletgreen:3. In fact, I love all mythical creatures. And I’m often reading up on, or looking for pictures of them.
:bulletgreen:4. Thinking of it; myths, ghost stories and paranormal things have always been a big part of my life. I’m terrified of ghosts (yes I’m a believer), but I’m also very, very curious and find the subject very interesting.
:bulletgreen:5. I also love fairy tales. Have always done. A good thing, now that I work in a nursery :XD:
:bulletgreen:6. I’m very, very easily distracted (unless it’s something I find really funny or interesting). This mixed with #1 makes me amazed that I can get anything done at all.
:bulletgreen:7. Disney movies! Gotta love them! ^__^ I’m a collector.
:bulletgreen:8. I love animals. I respect them more than humans. When I was a kid I almost always chose nature documentaries over children’s shows on TV if they were on at the same time. I also recorded them and watched them over and over again. Sir David Attenborough, my hero! :XD:
:bulletgreen:9. I wanted to study biology. But one thing led to another, and I ended up as a nursery teacher. I regret it now as animals is what I really want to work with… I’m hoping I someday will have the energy to go back to uni and do something that will make me able to change my career.
:bulletgreen:10. I moved away from home when I was 15 and a half. I come from a small town, so I had to move away in order to continue my education. I love living on my own, but I do miss the company of having someone to spend the days with. I miss the family atmosphere.
:bulletgreen:11. Because of the long trek and the cost (sooo expensive! >.< I hardly ever go home. I love my parents and I get along really well with them, but it’s often about 6 months between the times I see them.
:bulletgreen:12. I’m a Zelda geek! And I’ll always be a Nintendo follower because of it.
:bulletgreen:13. I love subcultures, but I like too many different styles to be able to fit into one myself.
:bulletgreen:14. If you take a hundred pics of me when I’m tipsy and a hundred pics when I’m sober, I’ll most likely like a higher percentage of the tipsy pics. I’m shy so I pose a lot better when tipsy. And I actually look more drunk on the pics where I’m sober :XD:
:bulletgreen:15. I love games, but I hardy ever find the time to sit down to play them :(
:bulletgreen:16. I LOVE Scotland! Especially Edinburgh.
:bulletgreen:17. My boyfriend is Scottish, though not from Edinburgh :XD:
:bulletgreen:18. I’ve been a cosplayer for almost 4 years now (counting from the first con I went to. Not my first lame attempts on making a costume) but I’ve never cosplayed in Norway, which is where I live.
:bulletgreen:19. I really love my friends, but I live almost like a hermit. Getting out of the door seems to crave a lot of energy. :>.<:
:bulletgreen:20. Beer is my favourite alcoholic drink.
:bulletgreen:21. I love reading fantasy novels. Current favourite authors are Tolkien, Robin Hobb and Trudi Canavan. Still, there are so many books I want to read. So the list is bound to get longer.
:bulletgreen:22. There is no better feeling than the first time you read a really good book and can’t wait to turn the page to get to know what will happen. Finishing a good book makes me sad, as I know I will never read this book for the first time ever again.
:bulletgreen:23. I’m also a bit afraid to finish reading books, as my favourite characters almost always seem have something horrible happen to them and thus will have to lead a sad life after the book is finished. Or they die. It doesn’t seem to matter if my favourite is one of the good guys or bad guys. I’ve often been seen crying when reading. They are evil those authors! XD
:bulletgreen:24. When meeting new people I seem to get to know guys before girls, and get better along with them as well.
:bulletgreen:25. I HATE smoking. The smell of cigarettes is one of the worst ones I know. And people smoking nearby me when waiting for something, like the bus, makes me annoyed. Can’t they at least stand so the wind takes the smoke away from the rest of us, instead of TOWARDS us! Grrr! Please show some consideration!
:bulletgreen:26. No matter how much I try to get used to going to bed early and getting up early, I never seem to manage… No matter how long I try I generally feel awake at night and really sleepy in the morning. Even if I did manage to fall asleep early, I’m still really tired in the morning >.<
:bulletgreen:27. My current best friends are mostly the same as the ones I had when I was a kid. I got to know them when I was about 4 -8 years old. The fact that I’ve still got them is quite amazing as we’ve had to move two times in order to attend high school and go to uni. But we always ended up in the same place ^_^ It’s going to change soon though :(
:bulletgreen:28. I hate asking for help and money. Be it from friends, boyfriend or parents.
:bulletgreen:29. I can’t stand watching movies where someone is being tortured. I can almost feel what’s happening to them myself. Not the pain itself obviously, but my body feels all weird and uncomfortable and I feel sick to my stomach. A lot more so than everyone else I know.
:bulletgreen:30. I’m also terrified of setting fire to my apartment. Even if I know I haven’t used my stove that day, I still have to check if it’s turned off before leaving the apartment. Same with lights, toasters and so on. This combined with #28 makes me wonder if I was tortured and burned alive in some previous life :XD:
:bulletgreen:31. Reincarnation fascinates me. And now that I’ve read a fair bit about it, and tales about small children who proved they’ve lived before it’s starting to makes sense. Yet I can’t bring myself to believe in it...
:bulletgreen:32. I’m an agnostic.
:bulletgreen:33. Like most girls, I have a huge issue with the way I look. Especially my skin.
:bulletgreen:34. I’m a comic book geek. But it’s in my genes. My whole family is.
:bulletgreen:35. I love to grow plants. The only thing I currently dislike with my apartment is that it has so few windows. Meaning not much daylight get in here, so I won’t be able to have living plants in most rooms.
:bulletgreen:36. I love doing memes and quizzes. But I try to post them as seldom as possible, as I doubt more than a very few people bother to read my posts.
:bulletgreen:37. I can’t think of a single thing I think I’m good at. There are things I’m ok at. But nothing I’m really good at. I just get mediocre at everything I try.
:bulletgreen:38. I usually don’t care much about pairings. I don’t mind them, but I don’t care much. But there are three pairings I REALLY love: Shikamaru x Temari – Naruto, Akkarin x Sonea – Black Magician trilogy by Trudi Canavan, Fitz x the Fool – The Farseer and Tawny Man trilogies by Robin Hobb.
:bulletgreen:39. I love getting emails and comments on stuff I do and post. But I find replying to them boring XD I do try to get it done, though sometimes people will have to wait a bit before I get around to writing the reply. Sorry >.<
:bulletgreen:40. I suck at math. As in, I’m really bad at math! I’m lost without a calculator, even on the easiest of tasks. Troublesome.
:bulletgreen:41. My favourite sweets are salt liquorice. I had a hard time liking in the UK because they didn’t sell anything like that over there. Not that I could find anyway. I had my friends and mum to send me supplies every so often.
:bulletgreen:42. I use smilies and emoticons way too much. I’m trying to cut back on it.
:bulletgreen:43. I get easily obsessed with things. Meaning I’ll watch movies, play games, look for pictures or fictions relevant to what I’m obsessed with. Atm I’m in a Zelda phase again :XD:
:bulletgreen:44. My favourite time of the year is summer!
:bulletgreen:45. I’d love to move south (and probably will do shortly, as I’m getting restless up here), but I’m pretty sure I love the midnight sun, the northern lights and the sea too much to be able to grow old somewhere else. Meaning I’ll probably move back north at some point.
:bulletgreen:46. I get really happy if someone invites me over to build their IKEA furniture. I think it’s really funny, and look at it as a big 3D puzzle. The more pieces the better :XD:
:bulletgreen:47. I go way too often too long without eating. I’m not on a diet or anything, but if I’m not eating together with someone I end up going “Meh… I can’t be bothered making something to eat.” And so I might end up going a full day without eating. It’s bad, I know >.<
:bulletgreen:48. I’ve got a driver’s license. But I haven’t used it in years… I hate driving!
:bulletgreen:49. I love nature, and can lie for hours on the ground just listening to the sound of the forest or sea, and watch small bugs walk by me.
:bulletgreen:50. I really want to own a dog once I’ve got my own house, and know I’m going to be living in the same place for a while. I’m also going to get a pet rat, and maybe some mantis, hopefully not long from now. Atm I have not pets.

That was hard!
